Directed A Branded Content Series For Colgate(R)

Super grateful to have directed a video series on Strife.tv that was partnered with Colgate(R), Youtube, and CreatorUp. I feel blessed to have worked with a talented team and a brand that gave me creative freedom to tell inspiring stories from the POC and Hip Hop community my way.

This is the first part of a 3-video series that will be released all on Youtube.com/strifetv.

Directed and Content Produced An HBO Program!

I'm honored and proud to have directed and co-produced HBO's APA Visionaries 2020 Virtual Premiere with The Great Company, and am so excited for the world to watch!

The short films by Tiffany So, Thomas Kim, and Johnson Cheng are exceptional and are moving commentaries on Asian American life through different perspectives - all under the theme of "Breaking Barriers."

It was a pleasure working with a talented team to produce and direct this all remotely! Seriously, it was done through Zoom, Open Reel, Slack, and various types of cameras, and mobile devices. So I'm incredibly proud of the show we created considering the circumstances. (Let's just say I'm a pretty experienced Covid director at this point lol)

Plus, it's a really good program! Anna Akana is superb and was a pleasure to work with. Niki puts on a fantastic musical performance to top off the night. Including many more cameos that make this program not only entertaining but also triumphant because it's all Asian Pacific Voices and Faces that adorn the screen so a feeling of pride and hope is felt when watching this show as an Asian viewer.

Tune in on Friday, September 25 at 5PM PST on hbovisionaries.com and be ready for a fun night

New Sony and Music.com Video I did with Monsta X

It was really fun shooting this video with the K-Pop Band Monsta X because they were extremely nice, funny, and full of energy. Working with Sony and Music.com is always a good experience and to be able to see these artists react to the 360 Reality Audio from Sony was inspiring.

Filming and Meeting My Favorite G-Funk Producer, Dj Quik

Filming and Meeting My Favorite G-Funk Producer, Dj Quik

Growing up as a kid in California in the 90's, you get exposed to Gangster Rap at a young age and seeing how much society demonized rappers and producers from the Black Community felt biased and misinformed - they were just trying to express themselves to escape the violence in their communities with stories about what they went through so they can inspire change.

My online school and virtual mastermind for Video Content

Video Content School Logo without tagline.jpg

It’s been a busy year for me and I finally have some time to update my blog. I’ve been to 8 countries in Asia, shot content for Sony, and now have started my new educational brand that teaches creators, enthusiasts, and companies how to create and manage video content. My company is called VIDEO CONTENT SCHOOL which you can visit here.

I have a free webinar available where I teach how to turn your part-time filmmaking hobby into a fulltime career or business. I’m blessed to be supported by my friends at Industry Jump and Learn Filmmaking that also has me as a mentor for their students and creators.

I offer a virtual mastermind that will breakdown how to create a stunning online portfolio and reel, reaching out to potential clients, the basics of video production, social media optimization, content strategy, and so much more. In a few weeks, I’ll also be releasing my online course for video production and content strategy - specifically for beginners and companies that want to create video content for marketing and telling stories.

Take a look and feel free to share with anyone that you think would like to learn more about how to create video content for digital platforms.

Making videos with babies and parents for Grabease

I’d like to think of myself as a versatile filmmaker and videographer. Creating this video for Grabease was a challenge because it was my first time working with babies. They’re tough to work with and don’t follow directions as often as you like, though their cuteness makes up for the temper tantrums and frustrated takes. I enjoyed working with Grabease and making content outside of my usual genres, and learned a lot from the process. I feel that it’s important to explore other industries and communities when using your craft as it creates a challenge that forces you to adapt and gain new skills. These baby products are also very useful and I’m sure that one of these days when I’m a parents, I’ll be using my own.

Boxing video with Tiffany Toney

I love boxing and martial arts so it’s a pleasure to be able to create this video with my friend, Tiffany Toney. We met at the Youtube Space and connected on our passion for boxing, fitness, and content. I first got interested in filmmaking because of Martial Arts films so it seems only fitting that I now am creating more action content. My goal is to create boxing and fight documentaries for HBO, UFC, DAZN, and other companies because I feel that as a fighter, I can produce visual pieces that would interest fight enthusiasts and video buffs. I’m currently working on a martial arts short film that I’m excited to develop and direct, while continuing to contact fighters to capture their stories. I feel that it’s important to work on projects with subjects that you connect with and the sweet science is in my blood.
